#danielaeats: cafe voila

Forgive me for going a little photo crazy in this post; it’s hard not to shoot a lot when you’re in Cafe Voila where everything’s Instagrammable–from the unique miniature figurines, brightly coloured Balinese lamps, multi-colored goblets, recycled placemats, and beautifully printed material on the couches and pillows, to their well curated food presentations, utensils and kitchenware. The place feels very homey and artistic, a very comfortable place to enjoy a good meal with the cold breeze of Tagaytay.

The food, just like the aesthetics, won’t cease to amaze. They serve Asian fusion cuisine with their versions of different Satays and local dishes like Adobo and Lapu-Lapu, but they also have sandwiches, pizza and pasta for those who would like to eat something else. I went to Cafe Voila with first timers and they loved everything–everything down to dessert.

Pad Thai

This must be a best seller here since a lot of people recommend it. It’s a delicious dish for sharing–they say two to three persons but I would say two. It’s really good so you’ll definitely go back for seconds even if you’re planning to share a few other dishes with your companions.

Cafe Voila Signature Chicken Satay

This was the star of the meal. I’ve actually tried this before but after having it last week, I found it to taste ten times better than the first time I tried it. The presentation was adorable–it came in a mini griller so you’re sure to have it hot, along with several sauces and super delicious turmeric rice–all placed on a chopping board. Three sticks seem little but it’s actually more filling than you would expect. The peanut sauce that came with the chicken was just perfect, and when added to the chicken, balances out all the different flavours of the seasoning and herbs on it. Definitely a favourite here.

Thai Vegetable Spring Rolls

This would be a good starter for sharing since it comes in ten finger sized fried rolls. The roll is just filled with assorted vegetables so it’s very light, but still very good.

Eggplant Casserole

If you’re going for a flavourful, light and low calorie meal, this is the dish for you. There’s no meat in it, just pure vegetables but it’s still very filling because it’s served with bread. I wouldn’t get this as a main and would probably order it for sharing to add something healthy to the meal. It may be a bowl of vegetables but this casserole is so flavourful that even non-vegetable lovers will enjoy it.

And for dessert..

Waiter: “Mam, I recommend the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. Best seller po siya, sobrang sarap. Kung hindi po masarap, ako po ang magbabayad.”

And so we did. Along with the Apple Crumble (my favourite) and some regular brewed coffee.

Apple Crumble

This for me is a must have when visiting Cafe Voila. It’s one of my favourite cheesecakes because it’s not too sweet and is a little less heavy than your regular cheesecake. I also love Apple so when paired with the cheesecake and the homemade crumble on it + the syrup on top, PERFECT.  Just note that the slices you get when ordering are pretty big. We shared this and the other cake among five people and we didn’t get to finish the whole slice.

Salted Caramel Cheesecake

This cake was slightly heavier than the Apple Crumble. You’d think it would be extra sweet because it’s Caramel, but it isn’t, and had just the right amount of sweetness to it. It was delicious and was also equally enjoyed by everyone in the table.

Your description of Cafe Voila couldn’t be more
accurate, from the decor, ambience and cuisine.
We were guests of the proprietor and I think she
is the hidden treasure of the place.
    Kudos, Ica!!!
